Byron Bay is one of Australia’s most popular tourist destinations due to it's famous long golden beaches, unspoilt hinterland, and a very relaxed lifestyle.
It has a special kind of magic that attracts travellers because of its natural beauty, and relaxed and unconventional lifestyle.
There are a wide range of activities to undertake in Byron Bay - sea kayaking, surfing, snorkelling, scuba diving, bush walking, a walk up to the light house, horse riding, whale watching or just relaxing on the beach.
The surrounding hinterlands offer beautiful attractions including Whian Whian State Forest, breathtaking Minyon Falls, the picturesque village of Bangalow, Rocky Creek Dam, not to mention the famous Sunday markets at the Channon or Bangalow and the fresh produce markets twice a week.
The Arakwal National Park is a large 183 hectare park and it stretches from the lighthouse reserve along Tallow Beach for nearly two kilometers. Its creation is the result of the first indigenous land use agreement in Australia to provide for such a park.
The Arakwal Aboriginal people are the acknowledged custodians of the Byron Bay region.
